NumbnessI am here, Physically. But my mind is gone. All senses are useless. My soul ceases to exist. Nothing inside me, But an echo. I don't here the people near. The sounds from their mouths, Never form words, sentences, phrases. Colors. What colors? I only see darkness. But do I really see it? Or do I just know its there? Bitter, sweet, sour, salty? Nothing. The buds on my tongue are pointless. Food cooking near by, I smell nothing, But I don’t care. Am I cold or hot? How does it feel? I don't know. INumbness

The youngest child, understanding addiction.
I am from a jailhouse daycare, sleepless naps, picnics in a car. Safe from hungry squirrels.
I am from the mountains, the fresh air and rocky climbs. Sunfish on my toes. A fishing rod from a stick, hook, line, and cheerios.
I am from a lake and canoe, salamanders and newts, spiral staircases and cats.

Cultural IdentityBorn to not notice difference So that I get along Skin color means nothing When it comes to who belongs.Cultural Identity
As I got older I learned of one slight flaw Cultural Identity Was to be my great, brick wall.
I knew only one language While my friends knew two The learned their parent's culture They have countries with their values.
I'm the only one who thinks like me What's between the black and white My culture is the neutral nothing Cultural identity is out of my sight.
